Covering your windows with shutters or plywood before a storm hits ensures that they are protected from flying debris.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Purchase a backup generator<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many people are starting to recognize the need of having a portable or stand-by generator. Power outages can last for days, depending on the severity of the electricity grid damage.
