If you move, you’ll need to update your address with the state and change your driver’s license and car registration accordingly. Here are a few tips from UNITS Moving and Portable Storage of Phoenix on how to do that:
1. Gather your paperwork. Please remember to bring the following items with you when you go to the DMV: your driver’s license, vehicle registration, insurance proof, and residency documentation.
2. Call your old DMV. If your name has been modified, you must notify the DMV so they can produce new identification cards. Once they are aware of your move, they will forward your documents to the new DMV.
3. Get a new driver’s license. You’ll need to get a new driver’s license from the DMV in your new state.
4. Register your car. You must notify the DMV if you change your address. A new license plate and registration sticker will be required.
5. Update your address on file. It’s also a good idea to double-check that your car registration and driver’s license are up to date. If this is the case, you’ll be sure to get important DMV notifications, such as renewal notifications.
