The MacArthur Memorial is a museum and research center dedicated to preserving the memory and career of General Douglas MacArthur. Built in 1794 and authorized by President George Washington, Fort Norfolk is a four-acre site along the Elizabeth River that includes barracks, officer’s quarters, a dungeon, powder magazine, a guardhouse, earthwork embankments and ramparts.
