Moving by yourself can be a huge challenge for a number of reasons. In order to make your move a little easier, you should know how to pack your storage container the right way. Here are some tips to help you pack it like a pro:
Load the heavy and large items first
Just like an experienced mover, you should load the bulky and heavy items first of all. These objects include furniture, appliances, and any other specialty items that take up a lot of space. This will help achieve a more even weight distribution that will keep everything stable during the relocation trip.
Arrange the heavy items in a triple T-formation
In order to achieve good weight distribution, you should position tall furniture and appliances like dressers, china cabinets, bookcases, and refrigerators against the far wall of the storage container. long furniture like sofas and mattresses, should go along the sides of the container. Desks and tables should go in the middle of the storage container, so that in the end, your heavy items should resemble a triple-T (TTT) formation.
Secure the heavy objects
Use straps or rope to secure all of your heavy items after loading them into your storage container. Those large and heavy objects shouldn’t be able to shift during transport or they might get damaged or damage the things around them.
Load the moving boxes
Next you should load the boxes, one by one, and arrange them in the spaces and gaps between the furniture and appliances. Heavier boxes should always be positioned on the bottom while lighter ones go on top. You should also pack your moving container in rows from floor to ceiling.
