The Battery is a landmark defensive seawall and promenade famous for its stately antebellum homes. The Edmondston-Alston House was constructed nearly 200 years ago, around 1825. General Beauregard watched the bombing of Fort Sumter at this house, and General Robert E. The house contains a largely original collection of period furniture, silver, and decorative arts.
