The first step is telling your kids well ahead of time of your intention to move. Even more important, however, is telling them in the right way. Show your kids their new school, home, and places around town that you will frequent as a family like a large park. This will help them associate the move with new possibilities rather than what they are leaving. This also eliminates the anxiety about the unknown, since seeing the new place they will be living will help them realize that it is not as scary as their mind is telling them it is.
