Moving is difficult and rummaging through cardboard boxes that look identical can be enough to drive anyone crazy. Spree yourself the disorganization, chaos, and stress by making sure all of your boxes are clearly labeled. Read on to learn how to label moving boxes properly.

Pick the right labeling method

Whether you decide to number your boxes, color code them or use another method, make sure it works for you. The worst thing you can do is to switch from one labeling method to the other while you’re in the middle of the packing process. Pick a labeling method and stick to it.

Write the information clearly

On your boxes, make sure you add the proper room it’s destined for, the contents, and any handling instructions. If you finished packing a box full of breakable items, you should mark it on the outside of the box so that whoever’s handling it can be more careful.

Don’t just label one side

You should always label the top and sides of each cardboard box you’re moving. This way, you can make sure that your writing is visible on at least one side, even when the boxes are neatly stacked one on top of the other.

Be careful with second-hand boxes

If you’re using old cardboard boxes that are still in great condition, some of them might have old information and markings on them. Be extra careful! Be sure to cross out the old information completely or simply tape your new packing label directly over it to avoid any confusion.

There are no strict rules on how you should label your moving boxes but it’s a simple way to ease some of the moving stress you might encounter.
